Cocktail hurled at DU VC
Unidentified criminals threw a cocktail at Vice Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University Prof AAMS Arifin Siddiqui on the campus yesterday evening.
The cocktail exploded near IER, a few metres away from the VC, while he was going to his office in the Registrar's Building around 6:00pm.
The incident took place on the eve of two-day strike on the campus called by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) from today.
The VC suspected that the cocktail might have been hurled at him to create panic ahead of the strike.
"Academic activities will not be hampered due to this attack. We will run classes and other activities during the strike," he said.
OC of Shahbagh Rezaul said it was a cracker, which was not life risking.
Two other cocktails exploded in front of National Museum in the evening, said police.
