Design of metro rail through DU approved
Primary design of the portion of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 that passes through Dhaka University (DU) was approved at a meeting between DU administrators and the project's officials concerned at DU administrative building yesterday.
As per design, the 20-kilometre rail line will begin from Uttara in the city, enter DU through Shahbagh, pass over Teacher Student Centre and Doyel Chattar intersections and head towards Motijheel.
The earlier design of entering through Shahbagh and leaving through Chankharpool intersection was changed as per the request of DU authorities.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, its Chief Engineer Md Mofijul Islam, MRT Line-6 Project Director Md Anisur Rahman and transport planning expert Ashraful Alam were present at the meeting.
