Woman murdered in bank storeroom
Police recovered the body of a woman from the storeroom of Uttara Bank branch at Basurhat municipal town in Companyganj upazila Friday night.
The dead was identified as Fatema Begum, 40, mother of three and hailed from Char Elahi of the upazila. Her hands and legs were tied.
Companyganj police station officer in-charge (OC) Humayun Kabir said, acting on a tip off, police raided the bank branch at 11:00 pm Friday and recovered the body from its storeroom.
OC Kabir said the body bore marks of injury on the head and chest. Police assume that criminals raped the women and then killed her.
Traders at Basurhat Bazar said, Millat Hossain, an ansar working as a guard at the Uttara Bank branch had illicit relation with Fatema. Ansar Gias Uddin and Millat Hossain were on duty at the bank branch on the day of the incident.
Investigation officer (IO) of the case SI Amjad Hossain said, Fatema Begum, deserted by her husband, is a daughter of Rahmat Ali of Char Elahi.
Fatema's brother Abdul Khaleque yesterday filed a murder case against Uttara Bank branch's ansar Gias Uddin and Millat Hossain. Both went into hiding after the incident.
The body was sent to Noakhali Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
