New giant building plan

Malaysian investment welcome
The Malaysian government has unveiled plans to invest a total of Taka 27,450 crore in Bangladesh. The project involves building 20,000 flats, 2 satellite towns and a flyover. The housing projects and housing in the satellite towns will be for middle and low income families. There is also a plan to build a housing project for stranded Pakistani families and a water supply project. However, the housing Secretary has specified that these projects will only be possible if the investor's expectations of the profits are at a reasonable level, by Bangladeshi standards. The viability, terms and conditions of the project are to be examined by a joint committee. If the Malaysian and Bangladeshi parties mutually agree on the terms and conditions of these projects, it will produce very beneficial outcomes for Bangladesh and its infrastructure. This is so because of the rising lack of housing facilities in the greater Dhaka area and the ongoing issues of a continually rising population. The satellite towns will help greatly in creating the possibility of mobility and to hopefully set a trend for future investments in housing projects and satellite towns away from the congestion of the city. Therefore, the Malaysian government's decision comes at an opportune time when the Dhaka region is in great need of more housing and projects geared towards infrastructure. We are very hopeful that such projects materialise and we are extremely grateful to the government of Malaysia for taking such initiatives towards Bangladesh.
