8 Ctg business firms fined Tk 7.11 lakh
A mobile court fined eight business firms Tk 7.11 lakh for pilfering Wasa water in the port city in the last week.
The court in separate drives at Eidgah, DT Road, Pahartali, Port Connecting Road and Mansurabad found that Munmun Community Centre, Haq Ice Factory, Cafe Mehraz, Bangladesh Garments Printers, MA Limited, Hotel Myanmar, SAB and SBH Limited have been pilfering around six crore litres of water over the last two years.
The court also detained the owners and officials of the firms and seized electric motors and huge number of PVC and GI pipes, used for pilfering water.
Chittagong port authority (CPA) magistrates led the drives that were assisted by a team of Wasa engineers.
