Four women 'commit suicide'
Four women allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in Tangail, Thakrurgaon and Jessore on Thursday night.
Our Tangail correspondent reports, madrasa student Rokeya Akter, 15, hanged herself from the ceiling of their house at Bhairabbari village in Kalihati upazila on Thursday night.
Police said Rokeya's father Abdul Gafur locked her in the room after beating in the afternoon as he came to know about his daughter's love affair with a youth.
In Thakrurgaon, Mahfuza Begum, 32, wife of Abdul Kuddus, hanged herself from a beam of their house at Boldiara village in Pirganj upazila on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, Hafeza Begum, 30, wife of Md Halimuddin, killed herself by taking poison following a family feud at Potuapara village in the upazila the same night.
In Jessore, Jyotsna Khatun, 18, wife of Abdur Rahim, committed suicide, after taking poison, over a quarrel with her husband, at Natunhat village in the sadar upazila on Thursday night.
