Housewife killed for dowry
A housewife was strangulated allegedly by her husband and in-laws for dowry at Kachua Khalkand village in Jessore Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The victim was Jakia Sultana, 21, wife of Nazmul Hossain of the village.
Quoting locals, police said the victim and her husband Nazmul locked into an altercation over dowry issue on Thursday night.
At one stage of the altercation Nazmul and his family members strangulated Jakia.
Nazmul used to torture Jakia regularly for dowry since their marriage 2 years back, police said.
A case was filed in this connection.
