Arms, ammunition seized, 5 held
Police arrested three persons with a foreign pistol, 10 rounds of bullets and a private car at Mirsarai upazila and two persons with one gun and two knives in Chittagong city yesterday.
The arrestees are Nurul Alam, 20, from Chittagong city, Alam, 38, and Mamun, 28, both from Laxmipur, Md Shukkur, 20, and Md Shoeb, 28, both from Comilla.
Acting on a tip-off, Mirsarai police stopped the car in Mirsarai Bazar area on suspicion and found the pistol and ammunition from the possession of Nurul, Alam, and Mamun, said police.
Acting on a tip-off, Kotwali patrol police conducted a drive in Chittagong College road area in the city and arrested Shukkur, and Shoeb when a gang of five allegedly taking preparation for robbery. Three others managed to flee the scene.
