Man gets death sentence for murder
A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a man to death for committing murder in 2009.
The convicted Md Jasim Uddin hails from Akubdandi village under Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong, said court sources.
According to the case statement, Jasim stabbed to death his sister-in-law's older brother Saiful Islam Belal over a family feud on April 11, 2009. Belal's sister had complained to him of being tortured by her in-laws.
When Jasim was confronted by Belal, he became angry and stabbed Belal, it said.
A case was filed the next day against Jasim and two other persons.
Jasim is now in jail.
