Six businesses fined
Two separate mobile courts yesterday fined six businesses Tk 146,000 and shut down a spice manufacturer in Chittagong.
A mobile court fined two spice manufacturers-- Horin Marka Masala Products Tk 20,000 and Oot Marka Masala Tk 70,000-- for producing spices in unhygienic environments and without licenses from Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI). It shut down Goru Marka Masala for mixing food grade colouring with spice powder.
The court, in another drive, fined two fish sellers and a butcher Tk 2,000 each for selling fish and meat using non-standard weights.
While another mobile court fined soft drinks company Fast Mixed Fruit Drinks Tk 50,000 on charge of selling drinks using fake BSTI monograms.
