Family threatened to withdraw cases

Father of a slain schoolboy, at a press conference held at Patuakhali Press Club Thursday night, has demanded exemplary punishment to killers. Farid,14, a student of Patuakhali Technical School was killed in a clash with villagers over a disputed land on December 26 last year. His father Abdul Mannan, also a plaintiff of the murder case said that he is not optimistic of getting justice because what he said he already got death threat from different quarters who showed sympathy to the culprits. He said police are also yet to take action although he lodged a case with Galachipa police station accusing 15 people including Delwar Hossain Kalam, prime accused of the case on January 11. Seven out of the 15 were arrested. Mannan also lodged a complaint with Patuakhali deputy commissioner (DC). Galachipa police station officer-in-charge (OC), quoting investigation Officer (IO) of the case Abdul Haque, said an investigation is going on.
