The narcotics case filed against detained Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) mayor Badaruddin Ahmed Kamran was shifted to Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court in Sylhet yesterday. Charges in the case will be framed on March 17, court sources said. After hearing, District and Sessions Judge of Sylhet Md Abdul Gafur ordered sending the case to the said court yesterday. He also fixed March 17 for framing charges against the mayor. Kamran was brought to Sylhet Central Jail from Comilla Central Jail on Sunday night and was put before the judge yesterday. Mayor Kamran was arrested in the much-talked Kitchen Market graft case early April last year. He was released on interim bail given by the High Court after a month. He was arrested again from the city's Gulshan Hotel on May 28 night. Within hours, the joint forces recovered one bottle of foreign liquor, some FDR and other documents from his house at Chhararpar in the city. Kotwali police filed a case against the mayor under Narcotics Act while another case started against him under the emergency power rules.
