Ex-BNP MP's nephew admits murder for toll

Rannan Malitha, nephew of former BNP lawmaker from Kushtia-2 Sahidul Islam, yesterday gave confessional statement to a First Class Magistrate regarding his involvement in the murder of businessman Sahidul. Magistrate Jalal Saifur Rahman recorded the statement under Section 164 CrPC. In his statement, Rannan admitted that he along with two accomplices Ohidul and Aroz slaughtered businessman Sahidul on February 5 and dumped the body in a shoal in Padma Char. Police recovered Sahidul's body on February 23 from Padma Char under Moslempur village in Bheramara upazila in the district. Sahidul was a cattle and betel leaf trader. According to court sources, Rannan and his gang killed the businessman as he denied to pay them toll. Police sources said Rannan led a gang of toll collectors Police arrested Rannan on Thursday. He is son of Ishaq Malitha, elder brother of former BNP lawmaker Sahidul Islam.
