Court rejects 2nd charge sheet, orders judicial probe
The Women and Children Repression Preventive Court here rejected CID charge sheet in seven year-old Victor kidnap case and ordered a judicial probe into the case.
This was the second time that court rejected charge sheet submitted by police and CID on grounds of improper investigation.
Judge Motazidur Rahman also asked a judicial magistrate to probe the case, court sources said.
Victor Haldar, 7, son of Dinabandhu Haldar of Dhankhalirchak village in Shyamnagar upazila was kidnapped by some miscreants from near his house on May 22, 2005. He is missing since then.
The miscreants sent four letters to the victim's father demanding Tk 5 lakh ransom for his release.
On May 29, the victim's father filed a case with Shyamnagar police station.
Later, local people detected Basu Dev Haldar of the same village to be sender of the letters. They caught and handed him over to Shyamnagar police.
But police released him and were allegedly trying to divert the case and destroy its merit, sources claimed earlier.
The then Shyamnagar thana officer-in-charge and two sub-inspectors were suspended in this regard.
Sub-inspector Swapan Kumar Saha had submitted charge sheet to a court against Basu Dev Haldar on September 30, 2005.
As the complainant submitted a 'naraji' petition, the court asked CID for further investigation.
The CID investigation officer (IO) arrested Victor's uncle Krishna Pada Haldar and submitted a fresh charge sheet accusing him and two others--Basudev and local Union Parishad member Abu Bakkar.
Yesterday, during hearing, the complainant again submitted a 'naraji' petition, alleging that CID did not investigate the case properly.
The court accepted the naraji petition and ordered a judicial probe into the case, court sources said.
