Spirit of '52 can do miracle to nation in good governance

Language movement veteran Abdul Matin yesterday said the spirit of Language Movement and the Liberation war can ring about radical change in the nation if there is a good governance in the country. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of a week-long Ekushey Book Fair in Pabna. The language movement in 1952 united people o all religions and classes as all were Bangalees. Only this spirit, if inculcated and carried forward can turn the nation into a great and dynamic force which can change our life overnight, he said. “Muslim, Hindus and Buddhist joined the language movement. Language movement was for the all in the land.” Referring to the anti-corruption drive, Matin said people of classes should join the 'movement' to create a better future for the next generation. He urged the youths to 'finish the unfinished task'. All should be conscious so that corrupt people can not be elected and go to power again, the language movement veteran said. Convenor of 'Ekushey Book Fair' committee Jakir Hossain chaired the function held on t Pabna Town hall premise in the evening. Matin also urged trades and businessmen to try to keep prices within the reach of the commonman. Language movement veteran Ranish Maitre, former lawmaker and politician Amzad Hossain, elderly Journalist Anwarul Haque, M Saidul Haque Chunnu, Sultan Ahmed Buro and Abul Kashem also addressed the function. Later Abdul Matin distributed prizes among children.
