BR Sramik League demands withdrawal of case against its leader

Bangladesh Railway Sramik League leaders and activists yesterday staged a demonstration in Chittagong city, demanding withdrawal of a transfer order and a false case against its Joint General Secretary Sheikh Md Lokman Hossain. They held a rally outside Central Railway Building around 10:00am and later brought out a protest procession in this regard. They also submitted a memorandum to the General Manager (GM) of Bangladesh Railway (East Zone) with the demands. Lokman and other leaders of Sramik League alleged that the process of recruitment of 84 “Khalashi” (fourth class employees) to the Stores Department of Bangladesh Railway on January 7 was not transparent. They also altercated over the matter with Chief Controller of Stores (CCS), Pahartali of Bangladesh Railway Chowdhury Md Isha-E- Khalil, who conducted the recruitment. Meanwhile, Khalil denied the allegation. The railway authorities on Friday filed a case with Khulshi Police Station against Lokman and two others for creating hindrance in public service and ordered to transfer Lokman to Dhaka.
