Bush and bias

The write-up from Mr. Harun-ur-Rashid regarding the Bush visit to Israel on its 60th anniversary is an enlightened summary of the Israeli occupation. Mr Rashid's conclusion that, “if the Bush administration initiates a policy of inclusion and impartiality on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it may see the light in resolving one of the most intractable disputes in the world.” This sense of fairness will never happen from the West. To have America or (Europe for that matter) as arbitrators of peace is like expecting the Gestapo in Nazi Germany to provide justice for the Jews against Hitler's policy. My statement is harsh but this is the reality. We have seen the numerous vetoes by America in the UN on any resolution condemning Israel. Similarly, there is an open secret about Israel holding nuclear weapons yet have we seen any pressure on it from any quarter (including Russia or China) to come clean? Does anyone speak of the supremacist ideology held by Judaism, the "chosen" people", that states no-Jews are Gentiles (impure) and how this attitude reflects in the treatment of Arab Israelis and others in general? Israel is a religious state based on theocracy, yet why is Iranian condemned for its religious fervour? I travelled through the Middle East in my student days - Egypt, Saudi, Syria, Jordan and Israel. In Israel, being British and having a fluent English accent, it was easy to mix with Jews, as Israel is an enclave of American and British Jews. However, I found some kind of paranoia existing on both sides. Organisations like Hamas and Islamic Jihad have a Muslim nationalist fervour and forget that Islam is for all people irrespective of race and religion. It is about Dawah (inviting people to truth), not blowing them up. And secularists like Abbas are following a Western philosophy which is alien to their people.
