Khetur Dham Premtali

Shatabdi Biswas, Officers Quarter, Regional Public Administration Training Centre, Rajshahi
An escape from the hectic schedules of urban life is travelling far away from the city to delight ourselves with the serene beauty of nature or to visit a historical monument. As it was my summer vacation and the mind-crumbling exams were over, there was enough time for me to take a break from my daily life and a trip to know about the incredible Bangladesh having wonderful tourist places to allure foreigners. Unfortunately, due to lack of maintenance, many beautiful architectural monuments such as temples and mosques are laid in ruins. I had visited India some months ago and so I decided to journey into the deepest core of Bangladesh. With the consent from my parents, I was ready to go then. Such a chance could never be missed. The place I made up my mind to go to is Premtali situated at Godagari Upazila in Rajshahi. On a bright sunny day, I set out for my destination with my mother. I had never gone to the villages of Rajshahi and this would be my first time experience. After we arrived at Godagari, we went to a relative's home. It was nearly fifteen minutes' stopover at that place. Once again, we hopped onto the car. We were on our way to Premtali. How excited I felt ! Premtali is widely known among the Hindu community for "Sree Gouranga Deb Mandir" established by Sree Norottam Thakur. It is one of the holy places visited by the devout Hindu pilgrims for the purification of the mind and soul. Finally at about 4:30 we reached Premtali temple. The enchantment of the natural beauty around the temple fascinated me. Crest of Sree Sree Radha Gobinda Temple and an inscription of Radha Krishna. Really, I thought such a calm and peaceful place would be very appropriate for contemplating and calling the name of Almighty. I felt that the nature is calling me, penetrating deep within my heart and touching my vigilant senses. This tour was a thought-provoking one and it illuminated the grim darkness existing in my mind. I don't care what science says about God's existence. Science may not be able to see Him but we, human beings, can feel Him.
