Kailashtila LPG bottling plant to remain silent for a week
Operation of the LPG bottling plant of state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) was suspended yesterday for a week.
This was done as the LPG production plant (NGL Fractionation plant) at Kailashtila in Golapganj upazila remained shut for 10 days from Saturday for a tie-up of the newly established plant with the old one, officials sources said.
The decision was taken on an emergency basis, the source added.
Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL) of state-run Petrobangla established the new NGL Fractionation Plant with a capacity to produce 110 tonnes of LPG per day.
It will now meet the ever-increasing demand for LPG. The sources said they are hopeful of commissioning the new plant in mid- October.
The RPGCL was getting only about 375 tonnes of LPG per month from its old NGL plant. The 8500 tonne capacity plant produced only 4400 tonnes LPG in 2006-2007 financial year.
