No clue to 'abduction' of Ctg businessman Mozaffar
Police are yet to trace out businessman Mozaffar Ahmed, who was allegedly abducted on September 9 from Agrabad CDA residential area.
Six persons have been arrested so far in connection with the incident. Two of them were produced before court yesterday on completion of their five-day fresh remand, police said.
Mozaffar Ahmed, owner of Overseas Enterpriae, is missing since he went out of his residence at the city's Agrabad CDA residential area at around 9:00pm on September 9 to go to nearby Vat Club.
Next day, his family filed a general diary with Double Mooring police station.
Later, Mozaffar's wife Zahanara Ahmed filed an abduction case with the same station on September 13 accusing five persons. The accused are including Zakaria Mintu, Nurul Amin, Mun, Mamun Ur Rashid and Zahangir Alam alias Kalacia.
Of them Zakaria, Amin and Mun also were at the Vat club on the night Mozaffar was missing, said,
Mozaffar's brother-in-law Sohel M Rahman claimed that Mozaffar got a death threat from businessman Mamun Ur Rashid over a six-katha land in Mehdibag area in the city in October last year. A general diary was lodged after the alleged threat.
Police arrested six persons including accused Nurul Amin, Mun, Mamun Ur Rashid and Zahangir Alam alias Kalacia, a peon of the club Md Rafiq and rickshawpuller Bhutto.
Police interrogated Nurul Amin, Mun, Rafiq and Bhutto during their three-day remand that ended on September 19. Mamun and Kalacia were interrogated during their eight-day remand.
Mamun and Kalacia were produced before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mafijul Islam yesterday. The court sent them to jail.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khondoker Rejaul Hasan said they could not get any information from the accused during their remand.
Police raided different areas yesterday to arrest Zakaria Mintu who remained absconding since Mozaffar is missing, the OC said.
