Father, son killed in road accident
A father and his son were killed and his wife was injured in a road accident yesterday at Baro Bazar on Jhenidah-Jessore highway in Kaligong upazila in Jhenidah district.
Hafizur Rahman Ala, 32 and his two-year-old son Sayed died on the spot when their rickshaw van was knocked down by a covered van, police and witnesses said.
Hafizur's wife Shimu Khatun was given first aid at a clinic while van puller Anwar Hossain, 20, was admitted to the local health centre.
Hafizur's family was going to Jessore from Pirojpur village for treatment of their minor son.
After the tragic accident, local people blocked the highway for about two hours, creating a long traffic jam .
Police later cleared the road.
The bodies were sent to the victims' village home for burial, police said.
