New school timings
Recently, the CA has directed all the schools in Dhaka city to start the morning shift at 07:30am just to avoid traffic jam during office hours. Well, it may attain the objective to some extent. We have to think about the consequences of such order related to the level of students, locality, availability of transport, number of children in a family, availability of school bus/van, affordability of parents etc. However, it may be a temporary arrangement and the authorities have to find some other ways to resolve the traffic jam issue.
Let me talk about my locality. I am a resident of old airport area. I drop my daughters at the Holy Cross School/College at 7:30am in the morning and my wife drops my son at the BAF school at 8:00am. The school is not very far from my residence; so, it's alright for us and we have never faced any traffic jam on the way to the school. But, I face huge jam in the return path.
I think the construction of a new bypass road through Rangs Bhaban, opposite the Chief Adviser's office, is in progress. It will significantly reduce traffic jam in the airport road area.
