Strident campus politics

Mushtaque Ahmad, Uttara, Dhaka
I am referring to the disturbances created by the activists of the JCD, student wing of the BNP, which paralysed life on Dhaka University campus a few days back. They resorted to burning private cars, taxis, and buses, just because of rumours that Tarique Rahman had slipped in the hospital bathroom injuring himself. This type of violence is nothing new with student wings of most other political parties. I wish to conclude by saying that there is proof enough that our public universities and colleges are producing more “scoundrels” than scholars.
