Unfit vehicles
Road traffic accident (RTA) is one of the most important causes of death and disabilities. And one of the important causes of RTA is unfit vehicles. They also cause air pollution. Dhaka is the most polluted city in the world. Air pollution also causes many diseases including cancer. Again it causes death and disabilities of our population.
The number one problem of Dhaka city is traffic jam which is made worse by faulty vehicles. It reduces the vehicle speed into one-sixth. It consumes billions of dollars by burning fuel. The cost of time lost on the road cannot be imagined. At least 30% of total vehicles have no legal fitness certificates. If the government takes proper steps against the illegally run vehicles (bus, track, private car, tempo, taxi, CNG, rickshaw etc), traffic jam will be eliminated to a great extent within 24 hours!
If you recollect the situation after 1/11, there was no traffic jam for at least two months!
