Good effort, but…
We appreciate the sincere effort of Mr. Rafiqul Haque to resolve the current political impasse having two leaders sit together and provide a positive direction of healthy politics in the coming days. The CTG also has the same objective when they talk about "Policy Summit" which includes all political leaders. But the problem is the CTG has so far told us of so many dialogue frameworks and formats that there is very little or no creditability left of this CTG. What they say sounds like a new formula to extend the process of stay of the CTG and push forward the much talked about general election. They are still sticking to their idea of holding the upazila election in October as a matter of prestige, that might delay the general election under the pretext of the upazila election.
I think Mr. Rafiqul Haque should not mix up his idea or wish with that of the CTG. There is every chance that he will become controversial politically. Dr Yunus is a recent example. He managed to escape from the controversy by dismembering his political party. Please do not forget that some of the high ups in this government were very visible protagonists of the political party of Dr Yunus, considering his towering popularity after getting the Noble Peace Prize. Politics is politics. It does not always follow any textbook or theory. The people decide the fate of politics and the politicians. Leave the issue of two leaders sitting in one table to the people to decide and ask for it. Nobody should represent the voice of the people.
