“Narrow escape at Marriott”
I wish to draw your attention to the fact that the above headline is single sourced ['a senior government official'] and dubious in nature.
Such stories are often hurriedly fabricated by governments to profit from a fortuitous event, tragic or otherwise - in this case possibly to garner sympathy for the PPP leadership.
My cynical view of this story is rooted in the dismal past record of most government sources apropos veracity, but more importantly in a BBC news story of Sep 22 which states: “The top official in Pakistan's interior ministry said a dinner to be attended by the president, prime minister and military leaders had been cancelled at the last minute.”
But hotel owner Sadruddin Hashwani told the BBC there never was a booking for a government dinner that night, nor any plans for a government function.
