Attack On British Envoy
Recording PWs' deposition resumes tomorrow
Recording of the deposition of the PWs in the murder case filed in connection with the grenade attack on British High Commissioner Anwar Choudhury will resume tomorrow.
The recording will continue till October 9.
Sylhet Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Dipyoman Sarker started recording the PWs' deposition on August 26 and deposition of 29 of the 57 PWs was recorded till 26 September.
The Bangladesh-born British high commissioner and 70 others were hurt in the grenade attack while Special Branch Assistant Sub-Inspector of police Kamal Uddin, Habibur Rahman Habib and Zobayer Ahmed Rubel were killed after the Juma prayers on May 21 in 2004 on the premises of Hajrat Shahjalal's (RA) shrine in Sylhet.
Days after the incident, the cases were transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as the police failed to find clues to the attack. CID filed two charge sheets -- one under Explosives Act and the other for killing against outlawed Harkat ul Jihad (HuJi) chief Mufti Abdul Hannan, his brother Mofizur Rahman and HuJi operatives Delwar Hossain Ripon and Sharif Shahedul Alam alias Bipul.
