'Joint efforts needed to combat AIDS'
Speakers at an advocacy meeting held here yesterday stressed on coordinated efforts of police and NGO workers to halt spread of HIV/AIDS throughout the country.
Light House, an NGO, organised the meeting at the Police Hall Room here. Narcotics Department additional director (AD) Shahidul Haque Mandol presided the meeting.
Deputy Inspector of General (DIG) of police AKM Shahidul Haque was present as special guest.
Speakers said that policemen cand do a lot to resist spread of HIV/AIDS.
They also said that community policemen can help identify the injecting drug users, termed as carriers of the deadly disease.
