3-day Lalon Mela starts in Kushtia
A three-day long Lalon Mela started yesterday at Lalon's Akhra at Chheuria near the town, marking the 117th death anniversary of great baul mystic Fakir Lalon Shah. On the occasion of the yearly festival held under the government initiative, the akhra has been tastefully decorated. The programme highlighting the spiritual and humanitarian contribution of baul king Lalon includes discussion meetings and singing of Laon songs. In the fair arranged on the occasion, around a thousand vendors are displaying items including traditional things. Communications Secretary Dr Mahbubur Rahman inaugurated the programme with Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Nurul Islam in the chair. Bauls and devotees of Lalon have started arriving at Chheuria from across the country.
