Kokil Textile Mill resumes production
Kokil Textile Mill resumed production on Thursday as workers withdrew their strike following a meeting with mill authorities.
At a meeting brokered by Sadar Thana Officer in-Charge (OC) Md. Mohiuddi, the mill's General Manager (admin) Shafique Uddin Ahmed and General Manager (technical) Ashutush Bhaumik told workers' representatives that all their lawful demands would be met, the OC told this correspondent later.
The demands include issuance of appointment letters, bonus, wages equal to workers of other textile mills and two days' casual leave a month.
The workers went on an indefinite strike on Tuesday to press the demands.
State-owned Kokil Textile Mill remained closed for long after incurring loss every year.
Abdul Mannan took its ownership during BNP government and started it again on June 1 this year.
