Lawyers demand in Barisal, Chandpur
Members of Barisal District Bar Association and Chandpur District Bar Association have urged the government to implement separation of judiciary from administration immediately.
Our Barisal correspondent reports: The Bar Association members here hailed the government decision and vowed to foil any conspiracy against the government decision to separate judiciary from administration.
They vehemently condemned the activities of the members of the administration cadre.
They were addressing a meeting at Barisal District Bar Association auditorium Sunday afternoon.
Bar association president Advocate Dilp Ghosh presided the meeting.
Terming independence of judiciary as a constitutional binding, the lawyers said separation of judiciary from administration will ensure justice and protect basic rights of citizens.
They said those who protest separation of judiciary from administration are violating the Constitution and breaking discipline of the Public Service rules
They said the members of the administrative cadres used the political governments illegally for their own interest while at the same time are blaming government for interference in their duties when the question of transparency and accountability comes.
Separation of judiciary from administration is a fruit of a greater mass agitation and would benefit the citizens through implementation of their Constitutional rights, they said.
At the outset of the meeting, judges of Barisal district judgeship led by district judge Md Sahidullah exchanged views with members of the district bar association.
Among others, advocates Syed Golam Masud Bablu, Enayet Pir Khan, Talukdar Muhammad Yunus, Shakhawat Hossain Jummon, Kamrul Ahsan Shahin, Majibur Rahman, Fazlur Rahman, Majibur Rahman Nantu, Abdus Sattar, Kazi Manirul Hassan, Syed Waliullah Saju and other members of the Bar Association addressed.
Meanwhile, Golam Masud Bablu, secretary of Barisal District Bar Association has alleged that the district administration had locked the room of the Additional District Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon.
He said the room was selected for use as the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Barisal under Barisal district judgeship after separation of judiciary from November 1.
However, the deputy commissioner and the district magistrate were not available for comments. But their staff said the room was locked for renovation.
A correspondent from Chandpur reports: Members of Chandpur Bar Association, at a meeting held here yesterday hailed the government initiative for separation of judiciary from administration.
Advocate Zahirul Islam, president of the Bar Association presided the meeting.
The lawyers also condemned the officials of the republic for hatching a conspiracy to resist the bold move and its implementation from November 1. They called upon the government to bring the Public Service rules violators to book and take disciplinary action against them.
Among others, Advocate Fazlul Huq Sarker, Advocate Ruhul Amin, Advocate Ahsan Habib, Advocate Iqbal Bin Bashar, Advocate Kazi Habibur Rahman and Advocate Abdul Mannan Patwary addressed.
