Rivals kill 2 outlaws in Kushtia
Another injured by Rab in Rajshahi
Two outlaws were killed by party rivals at Malihad village in Mirpur upazila Sunday night.
The dead were identified as Akther Hossain Mondol, 28, a regional commander of the Lal Pataka (red flag) faction of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) and Babu, 26, an armed cadre of the same faction.
Police said party rivals picked up Akther and Babu from their houses within a span of 30 minutes. They called them out from houses in pretext of a party meeting.
Family sources said both of them belonged to PBCP-ML. But they left the party and joined its Lal Pataka faction in January this year.
Police said criminals slaughtered them to death at Padmabeel field at Malihad village. Afterwards, a PBCP cadre identifying himself as Siddique Ali alias Tiger informed Rab, police and journalists through cell phone and claimed responsibility for the murder.
Accordingly, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Kushtia visited the spot yesterday.
Rab and police have launched separate drives to arrest the killers.
Meanwhile, another cadre of the Lal Pataka faction sustained critical bullet injuries in a shootout between outlaws and Rab men at Taltala Bazaar in Bagmara upazila, Rajshahi Sunday evening, said our RU correspondent.
The injured was identified as Zabed Ali, 37, son of Asir Uddin Mollah of Mirzapur village.
