Pajero for upazila chairmen
It is reported that our government is going to purchase. 480 Pajero Jeeps, one govt transport each, for 480 upazila chairmen. The price of one Pajero Jeep is taka thirty lakh. What would be the total prices of 480 Pajero Jeeps?
We wonder if an upazila chairman is provided with a government transport worth taka thirty lakh, what should be the cost of government transport for our president, prime minister, ministers, MPs, secretaries to the govt, additional secretaries, joint secretaries, deputy secretaries, deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers and so and so forth according to their respective rank, pay and status?
Would our finance minister, cabinet secretary and establishment secretary kindly enlighten us on the matter ?
We would request the lawmakers to kindly discuss the pros and cons of the situation before it is too late.
We strongly feel that for a poor country like ours purchase of costly Pajero is not a necessity but luxury and colossal wastage of public money.
Ostentatious and pretentious works and expenditure create obstructions in our nation building efforts.
