Deep seaport

This is a very important development project for Bangladesh in the long-term perspective. At this juncture, while we have been struggling with many critical internal problems to solve, we need to think deeply about its immediate viability and effectiveness. Of course the deep seaport project will open many doors and boost economic activities and the port may be used by other neighbouring countries for expanding their imports and exports with competitive prices and that will help us to earn foreign exchange. But the deep seaport may not be our immediate requirement. At present we should try to boost our internal capacities by providing immediate support to the most essentials elements--power, gas, industries, garments, shrimps, medicines, agricultural development, healthcare, education etc. Hence, it is indeed a commendable enterprise but can be undertaken after the country reaches the middle-range income.
