Robber killed in gunfight with police
A gang leader of armed robbers was killed in a gunfight with police in Karimganj upazila yesterday, police said.
The notorious robber is Bachchu Mia, 35, of Dakkhin Nansri village in Karimganj upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team reached Pansahar village at deep night where the robbers were taking preparation for robbery, police said. Bachchu and his gang opened fire at police who retaliated. At one stage, Bachchu died and an assistance sub-inspector of police (ASI), Tajul Islam received bullet injuries. Later, the ASI was shifted to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital for treatment.
