Green Bangladesh
Bangladesh is an agrarian country inhabited by 150 million people in a meagre land of 56,000 square miles. Eighty per cent of the people directly or indirectly depend on agriculture for their livelihood, which plays a predominant role in our economy. In a populous country like ours, the importance of tree plantation cannot be overemphasised.
The govt may undertake a project entitled 'Green Bangladesh' in the next ADP and allocate a sizable fund for it. A tree plantation month can be observed throughout the country during the monsoon. In the mean time, for this year we may cut some funds from the ADP and divert the same to the programme.
