Prices of essentials

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently asked the ministry and authorities concerned to take immediate steps to keep the prices of essentials within the buying capacity of commoners during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The prices of essential commodities have been increasing in the past weeks. They maximize profit creating an artificial crisis whenever they find the opportunity due to the weakness of governance. They can show many reasons in favour of such spiralling prices of essential commodities nationally and internationally however unscrupulous that might be. It is really difficult to argue and there is no end of such argument. One can hardly go on settling such controversy unless the business communities here show their honest and liberal attitude. Neither the business communities nor the government in Bangladesh are foreigners. They must go hand in hand in order to serve the people. While importing cereal foodstuff or most essential items like rice, vegetable oils, condensed milk, etc., due to deficiency of production at home, we must keep it in mind that we are bringing them only to save the people in which I am or we are inclusive. So unbridled profit mongering must be restrained.
