DMCH mismanagement

Two vivid photographs on your front page (July 25) clearly show the state of affairs at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the premier hospital in Bangladesh! It graphically represents what is happening (or not happening) in the healthcare sector. Is it not strange; that "pro bono piblico", press photographers and news reporters can see and show the abject mismanagement going on; nothing is however seen or done by the hospital management! They literally "see no evil, hear no evil and so naturally speak no evil" about their administration. Here ignorance is bliss! All of them need to be urgently treated in their Ophthalmology and ENT departments. May be then things will pick up! Some days back. I believe you pictured the matters in the kitchen of DMCH. Subsequently, the Hospital Administrator took a walk across the kitchen to see the matter himself. One wonders if any changes took place. It was reported by patients that food quality improved. Is it still better, or has it gone back to the previous status quo? Now the Administrator should take random walks along the road, depicted in the photograph to see for himself how patient trolleys are misused in the most unhygienic manner! In your photograph the trolley pusher is clearly visible-- front face. He can be easily identified from the photograph and action taken accordingly. I would request you to send your photojournalists once a month, to report on the state of affairs at this premier medical institution in Bangladesh. This photo audit, done in overall public interest, may result in some lasting improvements at DMCH.
