Our Dalit brothers

Pradip Das, A novelist, Dhaka
Today in the newspaper I got the opportunity to read an excellent article written by Amena Khatun. Why don't we think of the Dalits? I cannot imagine how several people sleep in a single room. There contribution to our society cannot be underestimated. Without them, we cannot think of leading a healthy life. So shouldn't we think of their living standard? How would they survive in a city with the salary of taka two thousand or three thousand per month ? We can not expect better work from them because they themselves cannot enjoy a dignified life. We must change our attitude. The social workers must frequently visit them. If the children of this community are not allowed to enter into the school of the “high society”, then schools must be built in their colonies. Healthcare centres must also be built in their colonies. We can not think of a happy nation without their services. Once again, I would like to thank Amena Khatun for her informative article.
