Adilur Rahman's arrest
Adilur Rahman has been arrested by the government on charge of publishing a false report on the crackdown on Hefazat at Motijheel on May 5. The report does not at all go with the government version of the incident. We are inclined to believe the government version, as it is an elected government.
If it is proved beyond doubt that Adilur Rahman's report is motivated, then he should be punished according to the law of the land. But being a highly educated person -- a lawyer and human rights activist -- he should be treated with dignity and respect while in custody, without being robbed off any of his rights as a citizen of an independent county.
Let us build a society where mutual respect is the norm.
