“Awami League missed the bus at Shahbag,” (July 10, 2013)

Ash C. In a lighter vein, Mr. Alam, please have a heart and give the ruling party a break! Weren't three long months enough for the ruling party led by AL to sustain the 'Gonojagoron Mancha' with full state benefit like five star living style for its leaders with VVIP protection that brought untold sufferings to millions as the consequence? Ahmed Mostafa The author seems to write very well, but he is biased with his facts. Dev Saha Hindsight is always perfect and yet, I would say Mr. Alam has shown his imperfection in his analysis. Shahbagh, secularism and atheism are not the real issues when fifty percent of our population can't even read or write. Reazuddin I respect all opinions and views but would like to differ with you in one issue and that is Shahbagh. It did play the most significant role in the recent unpopularity of the ruling party. Of course, series of scandalous instances of corruption, defaming Prof Yunus were other factors involved. T. Husain There is no secular party in Bangladesh and AL is the least secular and indeed very dangerous for any secular democracy. It is exactly like a civil servant in Bangladesh or India who is neither civil nor servant. AL is made of communal elements and this party is no different from BNP. Thanks and good luck for the country that AL missed Shahbagh bus. SY The Gonojagoron Mancha was the aspiration of 95% of the people of Bangladesh. It was a protest against the AL government's dillydally tactics with war criminals. A freedom fighter A pragmatic analysis reflecting the real facts. A wonderful piece. Saleh Tanveer The sins of corrupt party leaders and ministers have turned into a curse for the prime minister, and she has to bear the cross on their behalf.
