46 BNP-Jamaat men indicted in Ctg violence case
A Chattogram court today framed charges against 46 BNP-Jamaat men in a case filed over subversive activities in the city's Bayezid Bostami area in 2018.
The political activists -- including BNP city unit former office secretary Md Idris Ali, Bayezid Bostami thana BNP unit president Abdullah Al Harun, general secretary Abdul Qader Jasim, joint secretary Dr Farhad Hossen, Bayezid thana unit former Jamaat ameer Ismail Siraji, and Jalalabad ward BNP president Md Belal -- were present at the court.
Their lawyer Nazmul Hasan Siddique told The Daily Star that the accused are on bail.
According to the case, several bombs were blasted from a procession brought out by BNP-Jamaat men in Sher Shah area on October 14, 2018. They also vandalized vehicles.
Later police filed a case under the Special Powers Act and Explosive Act.
BNP city unit former office secretary Md Idris Ali said the case is false, fabricated politically motivated.
