Body recovered from Teesta
The body of a man was recovered from Teesta river, two days after he went missing from Teesta Rail Bridge area of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila.
Around 10-12 youths were gambling when police raided their den on Monday night. Hamim Uddin, 19, Uddin of Miapara village of Gokunda Union in the upazila, jumped into the river to escape the police raid. The raid was being carried out under the supervision of Ashraful Islam, sub-inspector of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, said locals.
According to the deceased's elder brother Shamim Islam, two 'identified' gamblers in their village called Hamim on Monday night. He had escaped after police raided their den.
He was searched throughout Tuesday, finally finding his body yesterday afternoon.
"We do not know if the deceased was present at the gambling den. However, his body was recovered and sent to the Sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. A UD case has been filed in this regard," said Omar Farooq, officer-in-charge of station.
