A Class 10 student was stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Moghbazar Madhubagh area last night.

The victim is Rabby, 17, a resident of Chairman Goli in the area, said Sub-Inspector Ibrahim Khalil of Hatirjheel Police Station.

The incident took place around 8:00pm at the playground of a madrasa in Madhubagh. His friends took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Rabby dead around 9:00pm.

Quoting his friends, police said the incident took place likely over a love triangle.

He said Rabby was walking with a girl near the madrasa field in the evening when Fahim, her boyfriend, and several others confronted him. During the altercation, Fahim stabbed Rabby in the abdomen, leaving him critically injured.

Law enforcers detained Fahim and another youth shortly after the incident. The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

An investigation is underway, the officer said.
