Ishraque takes oath with Jamaat MPs after arriving late

Rumeen Farhana also sworn in as EC chief administers parliamentary oath

BNP lawmaker from Dhaka-6 Ishraque Hossain was late in taking oath with party colleagues in the parliament and had to do it alongside the members of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

Following BNP lawmakers' oath-taking, the members of parliament of Jamaat, designated as the main opposition, took the oath in the parliament building along with other independent MPs.

Ishraque, son of former mayor of Dhaka City Corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka, and Rumeen Farhana, who had contested the polls as an independent, left the hall after the taking their oaths as MPs while Jamaat MPs continued with a second oath as members of the Constitution Reform Council.

AMM Nasir Uddin, chief election commissioner, administered the oath to lawmakers elected in the 13th Parliamentary Election held on February 12.
