SAARC: The Handicraft Linkage

As a way of strengthening and consolidating relations among the member-countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the SAARC Cultural Centre, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of Bangladesh, organized a SAARC Handicrafts exhibition in Dhaka.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated on 22 September 2013 at the National Art Gallery of Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka, will draw to a close today. During the six-day exhibition, such items as woven fabrics or handloom products, earthenware products, terracotta, jute crafts, leather crafts, hand embroidery, traditional toys made of wood and dolls fashioned from cloth were on display.
Additional lustre was provided to the exhibition through a display of other products, namely, jewellery, conch shells, horns, bone crafts, baskets, mats and cane and bamboo crafts.
