“Oh no, judge!” published on June 6, 2013

No one in our country obeys any rule. Even the judges!

This is a burning example of how government machineries work.

Mr. Hasan abused his power. We want proper action against the wrongdoer whoever he is. We often register general diary but very rarely police arrest somebody based on that.
Shahin Huq
Paying toll is compulsory to cross the bridge and the amount of money is not very big. If a SC judge shows such disrespect for this simple rule, we can imagine in what atmosphere we are living in Bangladesh!
Raf Chow
What contempt of the court? The judge must apologise to the toll plaza supervisor Asaduzzaman for abuse of power.
Wavelength
If the judge is supposed to pay toll according to regulation, he should be held to account, as he broke the law. Why did he pass the first barrier?

“Growth concern” (June 06, 2013)
Iftekhar Hassan
Finance minister's new budget is a non-starter because it's all either borrowing or printing money. The best growth comes from limited government and strong private sector activities. Gini coefficient maybe the best-known measure of inequality for developed countries with advance economy.
subterraneo
Could you elaborate on the Gini coefficient trend in Bangladesh? I was under the impression that it has remained almost constant in the recent years, being reasonably low compared to India.
