Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Md Aminul Islam yesterday said investigators have primarily found Awami League’s involvement, as a political party, in crimes against humanity.

“We have primarily found the party’s involvement, and the investigation into several incidents is still ongoing,” he told The Daily Star.

The remarks came a day after he said the investigation into crimes against humanity by the Awami League was ongoing.

On July 5, Aminul told reporters at his office that ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina had already been convicted on charges of command responsibility for crimes committed during her tenure as head of government, but not in her capacity as Awami League president.

“If the party’s organisational liability is established, its president, Sheikh Hasina, may face a separate trial in that capacity,” he said.
