Teen killed, 15 injured as rival groups clash in Brahmanbaria

Police say an alleged dispute over drugs triggered the violence; additional police deployed in the area

A teenage boy was killed and at least 15 others were injured in a violent clash allegedly triggered by a dispute over drugs in Brahmanbaria last night.

The incident took place around 11:00pm in Syedtula Uttarpara village under Sarail Sadar union. The deceased was identified as Raihan, 16, a local resident, Sarail Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monjur Kader Bhuiyan said.

“The clash took place over a drug-related dispute. Those involved will be identified and brought under the law,” he said.

According to locals and police, an argument broke out between two rival groups in the village over a drug-related issue. The altercation soon escalated into violence as members of both sides attacked each other with sharp weapons and sticks.

Raihan sustained critical injuries from sharp weapons and died on the way to hospital. The injured were taken to different hospitals for treatment.

Police rushed to the scene after being informed and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence.
