Letters to the Editor
No more presidential clemency
We thank president Abdul Hamid for his declaration that he will not exercise his authority of clemency in his tenure. It is really a very good news and we hope he will not waver from his words.
His predecessor, the late president Zillur Rahman, set a bad example by pardoning twenty-one people in three years, who were sentenced to death in different cases, whereas only four people had been pardoned during the period from 1972 to 2008.
We hope president Abdul Hamid will set an example for his successors.
